Banglacricket.com and Saintsational.com's three day affair at the WACA was interesting to say the least.
In their inaugural Test, Banglacricket.com won the toss and chose to bat.
MasterBlaster was the first batsman to depart, caught behind off the bowling of one Saintsational.com's star players, HSVKing. AsifTheManRahman departed not long after, out LBW.
Adel_chain_gang added 19 before becoming the second victim (clean bowled) off Halo-9, Saintsational.com's up and coming fast bowler. Former captain, Ehsan, didn't trouble the scorers, and received the same treatment as the batsman above him.
Tehsin made a start, but was saint66au's first victim, out for 11.
The middle order put up a good fight, with Miraz making an unbeaten half-century (59). James90, the captain, provided good company, and added 27 himself.
It was Hasib, batting at number 11, who added some respectabilty to Banglacricket.com's first innings total. He scored 30 before being clean bowled by n1ck.
Saintsational.com chased down the Banglacricket.com first innings score, thanks largely to a century from saint_mite (106), her first, and scores in the forties from Dal_Santos_Gal (41) and SkilledSaint (40).
Launcestonsaint made 37 on debut, while fellow debutant saint patrick, who earlier this year formed the breakaway Saintsational Rebel XI team, didn't answer his critics, by falling for a duck. james_rose's future is also in doubt, having made just 21 runs in his 7 Test innings at an average of 3.00. Even saintsational, recently dropped due to bad form, and tail enders HSVKing and saint66au, have scored more runs overall. james_rose remains Saintsational.com's leading ODI run scorer.
Saintsational.com made 264 in reply to Banglacricket.com's 191.
Banglacricket.com had a terrible second innings, which essentially lost them the match. After MasterBlaster made 17, and fellow hard hitting opener AsifTheManRahman made 21, the team was at 2/51. Within 5 overs, this became 5/54, while 5 overs later, they were at 8/57.
Tehsin and Imran78 came together then, to try and restore any hope of, firstly sending Saintsational.com in to bat again, and secondly, to give their bowlers any hope.
At stumps on day 2, Banglacricket.com were still in fear of losing by an innings, at 8/64.
The next morning, it was Imran78 doing most of the scoring. At one point, Tehsin had only scored 5 from 54 deliveries.
After about 20 overs, Imran78 fell for 45. He may not have posted his first Test half-century, but he did top score for the team. Not bad for a number 10.
Tehsin fell not long after for 20, leaving Banglacricket.com all out for 120, just a 48 run lead on Saintsational.com
For a brief period of 2 minutes, Banglacricket.com may have thought they could post an amazing come-from-behind victory. This was when Hasib clean bowled saint_mite with the first ball of the innings. But other than that, the only wicket was that of Dal_Santos_Gal, who fell when the team was on 12 runs, requiring 36 to win.
mightysainters (who eventually made 27) and Launcestonsaint (to make 16) took Saintsational.com to their first Test win.
saint_mite won the man of the match award for her century, and it is rumoured, that celebrations will last long into the night. |
